The answer would be Obama is "good for business" if you are GE, Goldman Sachs or Andy Stern and SEIU. The answer to this question will be provided in November. If Bush were still president with this economy would people be so forgiving to him? Dems controlled the House since 2006. Obama promised unemployment under 8% and we are close to 10%. Companies are sitting on cash because of uncertainy. The Healthcare bill is a disaster, how can you exclude one of the biggest cost drivers tort reform? How could someone be good for business when their cabinet is filled with acedemics and has no one from the private sector representing business. I can't see how this is even a discussion.

Health care reform adds costs to doing business. Supporting union demands adds costs to doing business. Proposed taxes will add costs to doing business. This will hurt American businesses compete with foreign competitors that reside in countries that are more friendly toward business, who may already have the advantages of lower labor costs. Americans are great competitors and right now the greatest challenge is increasing exports to growing economies, who have low per capita incomes. Having a government that helps businesses stay competitive by keeping costs low will be one key.

The economic environment the Obama administration inherited was bad and was getting worse. While the administration did not foresee how bad the economy actually was and how much effort it would take to improve the economy they may have taken a different tact but no one has 20-20 vision looking forward. The administration's actions did prevent the severe recession from becoming a depression with many more businesses failing, including the complete collapse of the American automobile and financial industries, and a significant higher unemployment rate.

We live in a world of having near instant gratification and we were all hoping for a magical recovery but Obama is not a magician and a quick recovery could not have happened. While everyone has an opinion of how the economy would be better if only Obama had done this or that, there is still little consensus that any action would have been significantly better than the actions he took and most would have made us much worse off than we currently are.

If we could go back in life and choose a different path, I would be without debt, lying on a street, unmarried, probably happy. It takes all of us to make this work, Obama is as human as anyone of us making a life decision. He is doing incredibly well with the hand that was dealt. I am paying my loans rather than walking away from them, I am first generation American who is surprised by third generation Americans who do not think much about their personal responsibilities and commitments, but need someone to blame. Today it is Obama, tomorrow the fool who will be President.

I disagree with the motion! The cause of the crisis was largely due to an over valuation of real estate and poor credit management on loans made to home owners. As a result the disaster was only time base due to happen!

The errors of the current administration was in failing to resolve the primary cause of the problem and instead helping large scale Industry with taxpayers money... so we keep digging a deeper hole! The second double dip will happen for sure... Its just a matter of time!
